(Chondroitin sulfate)




COMPOSITION

1 ml of agent contains:

Active ingredients:

Sodium chondroitin sulfate 100 mg

Inactive ingredients: benzyl alcohol, sodium hydroxide, chlorohydric acid, water for injection.

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS

Degenerative dystrophic diseases of joints and spine such as:

- osteoarthritis in peripheral joints;

- intervertebral osteoarthritis and degenerative spine disease.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

- Hypersensitivity to drug compounds;

- liability to angiostasis;

- thrombophlebitis;

- pregnancy and lactation (lactation should be withdrawn during the treatment).

ADVERSE EFFECTS

- Skin and cutaneous appendage disorders: sometimes: erythema, urticaria, dermatitis, maculo-papular rash (with itching or without), and/or edema, hemorrhage in the injection site.

- Gastrointestinal disorders: in rare cases - nausea, vomiting.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

1 ml of medicine (100 mg of sodium chondroitin sulfate) is intramuscularly administered once per 2 days. In case of good tolerability the dose can be increased up to 2 ml (200 mg of sodium chondroitin sulfate), beginning with 4th injection. The duration of treatment is 25-30 injections. If needed, retreatment may be prescribed after 6 months.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Potentiation of indirect anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs and fibrinolytic agents is possible; in case of concurrent administration more frequent monitoring of blood clotting is required.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATIONS

The administration of Drastop is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

MANUFACTURED FORM

Solution for injections.

5 glass 2 ml ampoules are in a blister.

1 or 2 blisters with a leaflet are in a carton box.
